Student Awards
Boran Yang is 3rd place winner of the 2021 IFT Student Poster Competition in Fruits and Vegetables division.
Peter Chiarelli received the 2nd place winner of the 2021 IFT Student Poster Competition in Aquatics Food Products division.
Shruti Sharma was the 3rd place winner of the 2021 IFT Student Poster Competition in Dairy Foods division.
Yiwen Li received a 2022 Student Achievement Scholarship of Phi Tau Sigma. This award is presented to acknowledge exceptional scholastic achievement and dedication to Phi Tau Sigma.
Xinran Xu was selected as a recipient of a 2021 Jim Ayers Young Investigator Award by the GA Association for Food Protection.
Minji Hur (MS ’20) was recipient of a FMI Foundation scholarship. Hur also received a travel scholarship to attend the 2022 SQF International Conference in Orlando, FL and a 2022 IAFP Travel Scholarship which supported Minji’s registration, accommodations, meal, and flight to the conference in Pittsburgh, PA.
Peter Chiarelli received a 2022 IFT Feeding Tomorrow graduate scholarship.

MFT student, Josh May, and his wife welcomed their first child, a son, Jacob, in January.
Tea White was awarded Outstanding Food Science Senior.
Aria Morrill was awarded Outstanding Food Science Junior.
Members of the Food Science Club represented the Southeast Region at the IFTSA College Bowl after winning the regional competition and placed third overall in the national competition. Competitors as follows:
